Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes have just unveiled the trailer for Drop, a gripping mystery thriller directed by Christopher Landon, known for Happy Death Day and Freaky. The movie, set to release in theaters via Universal on April 11, promises a tense and chilling ride.

The story follows Violet, played by Meghann Fahy (The White Lotus), a widowed mother venturing into the dating world for the first time in years. Her blind date with Henry, portrayed by Brandon Sklenar (It Ends with Us), begins on a high note at a luxurious restaurant.

But the evening takes a dark turn when Violet starts receiving ominous text messages. The sender, lurking somewhere in the restaurant, threatens to kill her family unless she follows their instructions—starting with killing Henry.

The cast also includes Ed Weeks, Violett Beane, Jacob Robinson, Reed Diamond, Gabrielle Ryan, Jeffery Self, and Travis Nelson. Jillian Jacobs and Christopher Roach, known for Truth or Dare and Fantasy Island, wrote the screenplay. Christopher Landon has described Drop as his homage to the work of Brian De Palma, adding a layer of suspenseful, cinematic flair to the story.

Produced by Jason Blum for Blumhouse and Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, and Cameron Fuller for Platinum Dunes, the film marks another collaboration between the two companies. They previously joined forces on the Purge franchise, which has spanned five films (with a sixth in the works) and a television series.

With its gripping premise and a mix of horror and suspense, Drop is shaping up to be a must-watch for thriller fans. The trailer sets the tone for a high-stakes game of survival, leaving audiences on edge.
