DC Studios is set to be quite busy in the next couple of years, besides all the projects that were announced as a part of DCU’s Chapter 1: Gods & Monsters, there are plenty of additional projects in development such as animated movie focusing on two Robins ‘Dynamic Duo’ and a live-action movie focusing on Teen Titans.
A couple of months ago rumors started circling the internet that a feature film focused on Sgt. Rock was in development with Luca Guadagnino set to direct.
Sgt. Franklin Rock, a character created by Robert Kanigher and Joe Kubert in 1959, is part of the Easy Company, a World War II unit in Europe. Since the 1980s, there have been several attempts to make movies about him, with actors like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis considered for the role.
His only live-action appearance so far was in Legends of Tomorrow, played by Blair Penner.
Now according to a popular insider going under the username Apocalyptic Horseman on X former James Bond star, Daniel Craig is rumored to be eyes to portray Sgt. Franklin Rock on the big screen.
There’s no way to verify these rumors as the movie is still only rumored to be in development, which is strange considering that some other rumored projects (like the Teen Titans movie for example) were subsequently confirmed by Gunn.
Also, keep in mind that if Sgt. Rock makes a surprise appearance in ‘Creature Commandos’ it’s likely that Craig won’t be offered the live-action role since Gunn said that he wants to keep voice actors portraying their roles in live-action projects and vice versa, as one fan pointed out in the comments of the original post.
