Frank Grillo Gears Up to Face Off Against John Cena Following Events in ‘Peacemaker’

HBO Max’s Peacemaker series debuted as James Gunn’s spin-off sequel to The Suicide Squad and it introduced a lot of comic book characters to the larger DCU canon (Kite Man, Judomaster, Vigilante, etc.), but also some original ones that have not appeared in the comic books. The series became a hit, and we know that John Cena and Gunn are currently working on the second season.

Seeing how the story of Peacemaker is set within the DCU, the series is directly related to the events that happened in DCEU movies. Knowing this, Peacemaker’s murder of Rick Flag Jr. from Gunn’s movie is canon and it seems that this will be a major issue going into Season 2 of the series.

We know that MCU veteran Frank Grillo will be joining the second season as Rick Flag Sr., the father of Flag Jr. According to a private video message from Grillo himself, he is prepared to confront John Cena’s Peacemaker for the murder of his son.

We know that Frank Grillo has been cast as Flag Sr. in the DCU and will voice the character in Creature Commandos, as well as appear in Peacemaker in a live-action role. Given that Cena’s character killed Grillo’s son within the universe, it’s natural to anticipate that Flag Sr. will seek revenge, setting the stage for a major showdown in Season 2.
