‘The Night Agent’ is a popular Netflix thriller series that quickly gained massive viewership, accumulating over 800 million hours watched by June 2023. Gabriel Basso stars as Peter Sutherland, an FBI agent in a tense, action-packed conspiracy plot.

Critics gave the show a mixed but generally positive response, with some praising Basso’s performance as strong and the series being thrilling despite its routine spy thriller elements.

Season 2 of the popular show is releasing in just a few days on January 23, this is why Gabriel Basso chatted on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ about the show and what fans can expect. Basso, among other things, revealed he does his own stunts.

Basso explained that he does his own stunts not to show off, but to make the experience more immersive for the audience. He emphasized that it’s about creating a realistic and engaging experience, rather than just proving he can do the stunts.

I think that can kind of get misconstrued into the world of like, I do it because I want to say I can do it, and it’s really not about that. To me it’s about audience immersion.

Basso explained that he prefers to do his own stunts to maintain the authenticity of his performance. He feels it’s important for the audience to believe in the character’s struggles, and if it means getting thrown into a wall for realism, he’s willing to do it. He values honesty in his acting and doesn’t want to deceive viewers.

I don’t want the audiences watching the show, and then right as I’m about to get hit or hip tossed or thrown on my back, you know. I feel like it’s a lie. I enjoy acting, I don’t like lying. There’s just a difference. And for the sake of audience immersion, for the sake of believability, they like Peter [and] to watch him take hits is important, I feel like. And if that requires me to get tossed into a wall, then fine. It’s not the end of the world.

The actor was asked by Netflix about skydiving for a scene, and since he already had experience, he agreed. However, insurance later intervened and told him to stop as he needed to renew his certification.
