Giancarlo Esposito’s Character in the MCU Has Reportedly Been Revealed, and Fans Have Mixed Reactions

Share:

Recently Giancarlo Esposito made headlines when he claimed that he would like to appear as Professor X in the MCU, but without the wheelchair, as he isn’t that old. Fans were divided on the matter since some still harbor hope that Patrick Stewart will be the MCU’s primary Charles Xavier despite him being killed during the events of ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.’

Then during a panel on Thunder Stage at CCXP Esposito confirmed that he will be appearing in the Marvel project, but also made it clear it’s not as Professor X.

A couple of weeks back, while ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ was undergoing reshoots, it was confirmed that Esposito would be playing a villain in the movie, and several set leaks have confirmed it. In the set leaks, Esposito could be seen fully dressed as the character, but no one could figure out who he actually was. The actor did tease that fans would be overjoyed once the movie releases and the final piece of the mystery has been revealed.

Now it seems that this moment of reveal has come sooner than expected as MyTimeToShineHello decided to “spoil” who the character is. According to the leaker Esposito is set to portray George Washington Bridge in the upcoming movie.

If you’re not sure who that is, don’t worry, plenty of fans who reacted to the initial post had no idea as well.

Bridge was initially part of the mercenary group known as the Wild Pack, later renamed the Six Pack, under the leadership of Cable. The Six Pack suffered heavy losses during an attack on one of Stryfe’s bases.

Bridge later became a major in S.H.I.E.L.D. and was involved in tracking down Cable during the early days of X-Force. S.H.I.E.L.D. collaborated with Department K to form Weapon P.R.I.M.E., aiming to capture Cable. Despite efforts involving former Six Pack members and others, Bridge’s attempts failed, and X-Force escaped in Bridge’s own aircraft.

Following Cable’s apparent death, Bridge joined Nick Fury in a mission to claim Graymalkin in space, but they were thwarted by X-Force. Bridge left S.H.I.E.L.D. after these events and pursued Cable independently. Eventually, they reconciled as Cable returned from the future, and Bridge joined former Six Pack members in separate paths from Cable. Bridge has no discernible superpowers except for his combat training.

Considering that the character is heavily involved with Cable, plenty of fans assumed that he is the character that would connect ‘Captain America’ with ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’

Now as for the reactions, it’s basically just a collection of “who dat” reactions:
