Gina Carano Refuses to Apologize for Holocaust Posts and Questions Why She’s Facing Backlash

Gina Carano gained international fame when she starred alongside Pedro Pascal in The Mandalorian. The role was a perfect fit for her, and she quickly became a standout in the series. However, Disney chose to end their collaboration with Carano following a series of what she described as “accidental” discriminatory incidents—though it’s quite unlikely they were all mere accidents. This decision has since sparked a continuing controversy.

Everyone is aware of the circumstances and the reasons behind them: Gina Carano was let go (technically, her contract was not renewed) because her political and ideological views clashed with Disney’s values. While there were other controversial remarks, it was primarily her outspoken anti-woke stance that led to her departure. In response, Carano has filed a lawsuit against Disney, seeking either compensation or reinstatement.

Although there are always two sides to every story, Carano’s inappropriate Holocaust comment on social media crossed a line Disney was not willing to tolerate, which is understandable. She was given the opportunity to make a public apology but, by her own admission, refused to do so.

If you don’t recall, Gina Carano recently gave an interview to Shawn Ryan on YouTube. The discussion was lengthy, and she presented her side of the story, filled with contradictions, unverified claims, and sensationalistic statements that were intended to support her case.

Throughout her ongoing battle with Disney, however, she showed no willingness to acknowledge that she may have been inappropriate or offensive, which is quite frustrating. Debating with someone who stubbornly defends a stance without considering counterarguments is always challenging, and this interview was no different.

One of the topics covered was her controversial Holocaust post, and—believe it or not—Carano still refused to apologize for it, even though Disney had offered her the chance to do so.

“I don’t worship your business… And I have done plenty wrong in my life that I will need to account for and I will need to apologize for, but at this moment I haven’t done anything wrong. And I am not going to put out one of these fake apologies that you have all everybody else put out that mean nothing, that degrade them, that take away from their words.

Every celebrity who apologized, they took their voice away to where the next time they speak, you know, it doesn’t mean anything ’cause it’s just a copy-pasted regular apology, and I was not going to do that. So I wrote out my own long, big statement. I was like, ‘You want me to make a statement? I’ll make a statement.’

It wasn’t offensive. I understand. I grew up a tomboy. I understand that things are different and people are going through things. It’s a very well-written thing, it’s just I don’t worship your business. And my God is bigger than Disney. So this is where I am at…. Hopefully, those emails get to get printed or read one day and help shed some light on what was going on.”

So, you make a deeply offensive comparison to the Holocaust—likening the end of your six or seven-figure contract to one of the worst tragedies and genocides in history—get a chance to apologize, and then defiantly refuse… yet somehow the problem isn’t with you? It’s no wonder people are upset with her, and why she’s become a target of ridicule online.
