Gina Carano Takes a Dig at Mark Hamill Using the Presidential Debate

Gina Carano has recently been in the media spotlight not for her acting career but due to her ongoing dispute with her former employer, Disney. Carano, who previously starred as Cara Dune on the hit show The Mandalorian and was rumored to have a spinoff in the works, saw her career take a turn when she made offensive comparisons between COVID-19 measures and the Holocaust on social media.

Her issues with Disney were further compounded when she refused to include pronouns in her X (formerly Twitter) bio, claiming she was subjected to a “re-education camp.” Consequently, her contract was not renewed.

After losing her role on The Mandalorian and a potential spinoff, Gina Carano decided to sue Disney, seeking damages or reinstatement. She claims she was fired due to her political views, which she argues constitutes discrimination. Elon Musk is financing the lawsuit, and Carano recently achieved a small but notable victory when the court allowed the case to proceed, rejecting Disney’s attempts to have it dismissed.

The judge ruled that Disney does not hire performers solely to protect its public image, so the lawsuit will continue toward either a trial or settlement. Following this, Carano has continued to mock Disney and those who supported her dismissal, with Mark Hamill being her latest target.

During the first debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump on September 10, Carano humorously asked on X where she could watch the debate since she lacks cable. Ironically, she was able to stream it on Disney or Hulu, and she had a witty response when this was pointed out.

Mark Hamill and Gina Carano are often seen as “natural enemies” due to their differing political views. Hamill, known for his liberal stance, frequently supports progressive causes and criticizes conservative policies, using his platform to advocate for issues like climate change, gun control, and social justice. In contrast, Carano, who holds more conservative views, has had ongoing disagreements with Hamill despite their shared involvement in the popular franchise.

This isn’t the first time Carano has taken aim at Hamill. Previously, she referred to him as a “talking piece of dung” after he appeared to mock former President Donald Trump during a prayer.

Before targeting Hamill, Carano criticized Disney, Lucasfilm, and Jack Black after Black laughed at and endorsed a joke by his Tenacious D bandmate Kyle Gass, who had wished for a second assassin to kill President Donald Trump. Clearly, Carano is taking on multiple battles at once.
