It’s a go! After months of speculation, Chris Pratt has confirmed that Guardians of the Galaxy 3 will happen.

While out promoting his latest film, The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, Pratt was asked about the franchise and its status. Specifically, when asked about the script and if he had read it, Pratt said this, “It’s off the chain. It’s so good.” He then confirmed that, “We’re gonna deliver the movie…We’re gonna give the fans what they deserve. And I think it’s in the nature of the Guardians of the Galaxy to come together and get this done.”

This comes as great news for fans of the franchise.

Guardians of the Galaxy and its future was left in limbo after the controversial firing of James Gunn. Gunn was let go of his writing and directing duties after a series of tweets he made years before were unearthed. At the time of his firing, Gunn had completed a script for the third instalment. Questions immediately arose whether or not his script was going to be used.

Now we know

While the movie still doesn’t have a director attached to it, Kevin Feige has confirmed that Guardians of the Galaxy 3 will move forward. Of course, which members will appear in the third installment is yet to be determined.

Aside from Dave Bautista threatening to not participate in the movie, most of the team has been snapped out of existence. Remember, at the conclusion of Infinity War, Thanos has wiped out all of Groot, Star-Lord, Drax, and had sacrificed Gamora to acquire the Soul Stone. With the only remaining members being Nebula and Rocket, it’ll be interesting to see who and what the team becomes.

Guardians of the Galaxy 3 still doesn’t have a release date but this news is certainly welcomed.

Cheers,

Joel
