‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ was released over a year ago, and the move marked several significant events in the MCU. Despite other projects more or less flopping, the third installment of the franchise was a success both when it comes to critics and in terms of box office.
As far as significant changes go, if you’ve watched the movie you know that the team effectively disbanded with all core members going their own way. Star-Lord returned to Earth to spend some time reuniting with his human side. Gamora joined the Ravagers, Mantis decided to pursue her own wishes and goals. Nebula and Drax remained on Knowhere to take care of the children that were rescued from High Evolutionary’s ship.
As one of the most popular teams in the MCU, fans are wondering what’s next. Threequel did tease that Star-Lord will eventually return, but there was no mention of the rest of the team. Well, besides that post-credit scene that showcases the new team’s lineup which includes Adam Warlock, Phyla, Blurp, Cosmo, and Kraglin under the leadership of Rocket Raccoon.
In any case, even if the team does return to the MCU, it’s going to be under a vastly different lineup considering that Bautista and Saldana confirmed they are not coming back to the MCU.
But, there’s always a but, Alex Perez, notably industry insider, and scooper, has bad news for all fans of Guardians of the Galaxy. It seems that the team won’t be seen in the MCU for quite a while.
A fan asked Alex Perez during his most recent AMA about the Guardians of the Galaxy and what they are currently doing. Alex replied that they are “guarding the galaxy,” but indicated that fans might not see them for a while.
Fans expressed concern about Star-Lord’s return, questioning the significance of the closing text in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.’ Perez mentioned that there were plans for Star-Lord to form the Annihilators, but he is unsure of the current plan.
The Annihilators are a superhero team in Marvel Comics that primarily consists of cosmic heroes. They were created in the wake of the ‘Annihilation’ storyline, which featured a major conflict involving cosmic entities and threats in the Marvel Universe.
Some of the most notable members of Annihilators were Nova (about to be introduced in the MCU), Quasar, Beta Ray Bill, Cosmic Ghost Rider, Gladiator, and Silver Surfer (about to be introduced in the MCU.)
