Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is arguably the most anticipated MCU movie this year. Even fans who said they were done with the franchise after the conclusion of the Infinity Saga can’t hide their excitement for the final installment of the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy because the movie definitely feels like the good old MCU we watched during the first three phases. Not that we’re speaking ill of the Multiverse Saga, but you get our point, don’t you?

With James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 just around the corner, two official one-minute clips from the movie surfaced online. Both of these clips have in common their highlighting of the complicated relationship between Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord, and Zoe Saldana’s alternate Gamora, who arrived on the scene in Avengers: Endgame after Thanos killed the original Gamora in Avengers: Infinity War.

Guardians of the Galaxy debuted in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2014’s James Gunn’s original movie of the same name. The movie introduced a team of misfits who possessed the Orb, which was actually one of the six Infinity Stones. The movie also introduced Josh Brolin’s Thanos, and it was one of the important steps in setting up the ultimate cinematic event — Avengers: Infinity War.

James Gunn wrote and directed the original movie starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, and Dave Bautista, with Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper in voice roles as Groot and Rocket Raccoon, respectively. Karen Gillan’s Nebula, who debuted as the primary villain in the first movie, joined the good guys in the 2017 sequel.

The original plan was to conclude the Guardians trilogy in 2020, one year after the release of Avengers: Endgame. But then, a series of unfortunate events, including Gunn’s temporary firing and you-know-what, delayed the movie’s development. And now, exactly six years after the release of Vol. 2, the trilogy will be concluded in what Gunn is promising to be an exciting and emotional journey.

James Gunn announced that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 would be his final movie for Marvel Studios. Last year, Gunn was hired by Warner Bros. Discovery to become a co-CEO of DC Studios, and he’s currently developing a new cinematic universe based on DC characters. The first DCU movie, Superman: Legacy, will be written and directed by Gunn.
