“Captain America: Brave New World” is set to be released on February 14, 2025, as one of the first films in the MCU’s Phase Five. The movie will star Anthony Mackie as the new Captain America, taking over from Steve Rogers, previously played by Chris Evans, with an intriguing twist to be revealed in the film.

Another significant aspect of the movie is the character Thaddeus Ross, who will transform into the Red Hulk. Harrison Ford will take on this role, replacing the late William Hurt.

In a recent interview with Variety, Ford discussed why he accepted the role, and his candid, albeit blunt, explanation resonated with many fans.

Actors often take on roles because they find them interesting or relatable. However, at various stages of their careers, they may accept roles for other reasons. For instance, Gary Oldman took on the role of Sirius Black solely because he needed the money, despite never having read the books. Jeremy Irons said he played Alfred in the DCEU because he thought it would be fun. Similarly, Liam Neeson accepted his role in “Taken” for practical reasons, and it ended up being a great success for him.

In this context, acting legend Harrison Ford was asked why he accepted the role of the Red Hulk in the MCU and how he approached a character so different from his usual roles. His response was as follows:

This was a brutally honest moment, and we know that when Ford said he’d “done [it] before”, he meant Han Solo. And we can fully understand and stand behind this approach, but fan reactions to Ford’s statements seem to be polarized, as the fans are unsure whether they should support the actor or bury him:

Regardless, Harrison Ford won’t be removed from the MCU due to these comments, and he will appear in the upcoming movie. Furthermore, his candidness is refreshing in an industry that doesn’t always embrace such honesty. So, more power to you, Harrison!
