Following the first season of ‘Ahsoka’ which was relatively successful, it didn’t take long for the studio to renew the show for the season. Back in January, it was confirmed that Filoni was developing season 2 of the show.

One of the best parts of the first season was naturally the fact that Hayden Christensen reprised his role as Anakin Skywalker, giving a highly-welcomed dose of nostalgia.

Now according to the latest reports, Hayden will reprise his role in season 2 but he will apparently have a much greater role. The news comes from notable scooper and leaker MyTimeToShineHello.

Fan reactions were mixed since most people can’t figure out how exactly Hayden can return when he is currently dead. Fans also raised questions about how that would affect Ahsoka’s character arc and development. Seeing her former mentor affected her greatly and allowed her to unlock the true power within her, bringing Anakin back full-time might undo some of that development.

There’s also a theory that Anakin will return as one of the Mortis gods. The season ends with Ahsoka and Sabine trapped in the new galaxy, Thrawn and Ezra returning to the original Star Wars galaxy, and Baylan discovering large statues of the Mortis gods, powerful Force-wielders introduced in ‘The Clone Wars.’ In the final scene, Anakin appears as a Force ghost watching over Ahsoka and Sabine, emphasizing the master and apprentices theme by featuring three generations of Jedi—Anakin, Ahsoka, and Sabine—in one shot.
