HBO’s ‘True Detective: Night Country’ and ‘Hacks’ Coming to TNT and TBS

Warner Bros. Discovery is bringing some of its popular shows from HBO and Max to cable TV. This time, True Detective: Night Country and Hacks will air on TNT and TBS, giving more viewers a chance to watch them.

Starting March 28, TNT will show all six episodes of True Detective: Night Country. Then, from April 3-7, TBS will air the first three seasons of Hacks, with two episodes playing back-to-back each night. This leads up to the Season 4 premiere of Hacks on Max, which is set for April 10.

Because these shows were originally made for HBO and Max, some edits will be made to fit cable TV standards.

This isn’t the first time Warner Bros. Discovery has moved HBO content to cable. In 2023, Silicon Valley aired on TBS, and True Blood was shown on TNT. However, this marks the first time newer shows, rather than older ones, are making the jump.

The decision is led by Channing Dungey, head of Warner Bros. Television Group and U.S. Networks. She aims to bring more viewers to cable while also attracting new subscribers to HBO and Max.

We’re excited to find new ways to share our amazing Warner Bros. shows across different platforms,” Dungey said. “Hacks and True Detective: Night Country are award-winning hits, and this will help introduce them to more people while also encouraging fans to check out HBO and Max.

Warner Bros. Discovery has been planning this move for a while. CEO David Zaslav mentioned last month that they were looking for ways to bring HBO content to TNT and TBS. Now, viewers who may not have seen these shows before will get a fresh chance to enjoy them.
