‘Hello Kitty Island Adventure’ Sales Top 500,000 in Just 30 Days

I couldn’t believe it when I heard the news – Hello Kitty Island Adventure has taken off like crazy. This game, built by the folks at Sunblink, hit a huge mark recently. In just 30 days after landing on Nintendo Switch and PC through Steam on January 30, 2025, it sold over 500,000 copies. That’s wild for a game that started out on Apple Arcade back in July 2023.
So what’s the deal with this game? It’s got Hello Kitty inviting you to Big Adventures Park, where My Melody’s setting up a new gift shop. Things get messy when you arrive – the park’s abandoned, and your pals are scattered. You team up with Hello Kitty to fix it all up, exploring a giant world packed with stuff to do. We’re talking hours of gameplay, from spooky swamps with Kuromi to underwater treasure hunts in Rainbow Reef.
The game’s a mix of chill vibes and big adventures. You can make your own Sanrio-style character, picking from tons of cute looks and clothes. Want to cook with Hello Kitty or brew potions with Kuromi? You can. There’s crafting, fishing, and collecting little Gudetama figures hidden around the island. Plus, you can deck out your space with all kinds of furniture and even invite friends over to build cabins together.
Here’s what Sunblink said about it: ‘Hello Kitty Island Adventure pioneers the “cozy adventure” genre, offering relaxed, “cozy” staples like crafting and decorating within a massive explorable world of quests, platforming, puzzle-solving, and other “adventure” genre aspects.’ Sounds like a fun mashup, right? And get this – there’s no extra cash grab. ‘There is no premium currency to earn, purchase, or spend in Hello Kitty Island Adventure,’ they added. Everything’s yours just by playing.
People love it too. It’s got a 4.9-out-of-5 rating from over 114,000 reviews on Apple Arcade, and on Steam, 93% of players gave it a thumbs-up. Back in 2023, it snagged Apple Arcade Game of the Year and a Webby People’s Voice award. It even got nods for Best Mobile Game at The Game Awards and Mobile Game of the Year at the D.I.C.E. Awards.
More good stuff’s coming. PlayStation 4 and 5 versions are dropping later in 2025. If you’re into physical copies, a Deluxe Edition for Switch hits shelves on March 25 – you can pre-order it now on Amazon. The digital Deluxe version, at $59.99, throws in over 300 extra items like clothes and furniture from past events. The standard one’s $39.99 if you want to keep it simple.
Sunblink’s keeping the game fresh too. ‘Sunblink is constantly adding new characters, areas, clothing, items, visitors, mini-games, and so much more—all for free,’ they promised. I’m already hooked on the idea of chasing high scores with friends or solving tricky puzzles as a team. Who knew Hello Kitty could pull off a hit this big?
