Henry Cavill seemingly can’t let go of passion projects, as the actor has been recently announced by Variety to star in the upcoming ‘Voltron’ movie.
Voltron is a popular media franchise that centers around a giant robot formed by combining five smaller robotic lions. The franchise originated from the animated television series ‘Voltron: Defender of the Universe,’ which first aired in 1984.
Rawson Marshall Thurber is directing the upcoming ‘Voltron’ movie, having co-written the script with Ellen Shanman. Thurber is known for his work on Netflix’s 2021 action film ‘Red Notice’ and the 2018 movie ‘Skyscraper,’ both starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.
While plot details remain confidential, the production team includes Todd Lieberman from Hidden Pictures, Bob Koplar, Thurber, and David Hoberman from Hobie Films.
Henry Cavill will star alongside Daniel Quinn-Toye, a newcomer who has previously appeared in the TV show ‘Badults.’
This is certainly good news for Cavill’s career, as he found himself in some sort of a downward spiral ever since he lost the role of Superman when Gunn rebooted the universe into a newly-dubbed “DCU.”
Cavill also abandoned his role of Geralt in Netflix’s ‘The Witcher’ production, and several of his recent projects did not generate the results that the studios were expecting. Still, there’s still much to expect from Cavill.
He recently appeared as a Wolverine variant in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ with some industry insiders claiming that Cavill has a sure role in the MCU. There’s that upcoming ‘Highlander’ reboot, also staring Cavill, and his upcoming production of ‘Warhammer 40K’ – but this one might be in trouble if some kind of a deal is not made until the end of the year.
In any case, Cavill seems to be focused on passion and geeky projects, which is a massive reason why he has such a loyal following!
