In 2008, audiences were introduced to Ahsoka Tano for the first time. Since her first appearance, Ahsoka has only grown in popularity, appearing in shows like, ‘Star Wars Rebels,’ ‘The Mandalorian,’ ‘The Book of Boba Fett,’ and ‘Tales of the Jedi.’ After her live-action appearances, it was announced that she would receive her own show during the same timeline as the other live-action shows. So here is when ‘Ahsoka’ takes place in the Star Wars timeline.
‘Ahsoka’ takes place between 9 and 11 ABY, which is during the same time period as ‘The Mandalorian’ season 3. Taking place seven years after ‘Return of the Jedi,’ ‘Ahsoka’ features the New Republic in full swing, taking down the remnants of the Empire. Both ‘The Mandalorian’ and ‘Ahsoka’ are leading up to the Star Wars film that Dave Filoni is working on, which is intended to be the culmination of all the shows taking place after ‘Return of the Jedi.’
Now that we have briefly discussed when ‘Ahsoka’ takes place, let’s analyze it in more detail. Star Wars timelines can be a bit confusing. Luckily, we’ve got you covered! If you’re interested in more, stay with us and keep reading!
Is ‘ Ahsoka’ a sequel to ‘Star Wars Rebels’?
Even though it takes place roughly 12 years after ‘Star Wars Rebels,’ with many characters from ‘Star Wars Rebels’ appearing in ‘Ahsoka,’ it appears that ‘Ahsoka’ is just picking up where ‘Rebels’ left off. With the plot revolving around the search for Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn, it is very likely to continue the stories of all these characters. Sabine Wren also seems to be a major part of the show, with it being likely that Ahsoka will train her in the ways of the force.
We will most likely find out what these characters have been up to during the events of the original trilogy. With Zeb appearing in an episode of ‘The Mandalorian,’ there is no reason for him not to appear in the show and be reunited with the original ghost crew.
What characters from ‘Star Wars Rebels’ appear in ‘Ahsoka?’
Ahsoka, Chopper, Hera Syndulla, Ezra Bridger, Sabine Wren, and Grand Admiral Thrawn are all confirmed for the show. While it is unclear if Ezra will fully reunite with the original crew, Eman Esfandi is set to play the character, and Hera, Ahsoka, Chopper, and Sabine are out looking for him and Thrawn.
While Zeb appeared in ‘The Mandalorian,’ it is unclear whether he will be appearing in ‘Ahsoka,’ but we do know he is well and active in the New Republic. Due to Kanan Jarris dying in ‘Rebels,’ it is very unlikely that we will see him, but we may get a flashback to him or even visions from Ahsoka.
What is the plot of ‘Ahsoka’?
‘Ashoka’ follows Ahsoka, Sabine Wren, and Hera Syndulla as they try to find both Thrawn and Ezra Bridger. Baylan, the villain, and his apprentice are also trying to find Thrawn to restore the Empire to what it was. Whether or not we see the full ghost crew reunited by the end of the show is another question, but if they do indeed find Ezra, we could see a battle between the crew and Thrawn at the end of the show.
What is ‘Ahsoka’ leading up to?
One of the many Star Wars movies announced was a culmination of all the shows, which Dave Filoni will direct. The film is rumored to be called ‘Heir to the Empire,’ which is the title of a book released after the original trilogy with Thrawn as the main villain.
The untitled Star Wars film is set to be the conclusion of all the Disney + shows and will have a massive crossover between all the characters. It’s unclear if legacy characters like Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Princess Leia will appear. Still, we know most of the characters from ‘Ahsoka,’ ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ and ‘The Mandalorian will be going up against Thrawn and his army.
Will there be an ‘Ahsoka’ Season 2?
While a second season of ‘Ashoka’ hasn’t been green-lit, we likely will get a second season. As we do not have a clear indication of when Dave Filoni’s movie comes out, all we know is that ‘Ahsoka’ is leading to it, but it was never mentioned after how many seasons. We all know the plan is to have Thrawn be the big bad of the Disney+ Star Wars projects, so even if we don’t get a second season, Thrawn and Ahsoka will most likely appear in other Star Wars projects before the film.
