Though smaller in scale compared to other MCU films, ‘Ant-Man’ franchise has had a big impact by introducing new technology, characters, and storylines that continue to affect the larger MCU, especially with the multiverse at play currently and quantum realm.
‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,’ the latest installment in the franchise also kickstarted MCU’s phase 5 and was supposed to introduce Kang the Conqueror, the main villain of the Multiversal Phase.
The movie flopped. It received mixed reviews at best and is considered a true box office bomb earning $476.1 million when it needed $600 million to break even.
Soon after the release of the movie, Majors was also arrested and later sentenced on assault charges, and that pretty much sealed the deal on Kang the Conqueror. Following this incident, and the unsuccessful release of ‘The Marvels’ the studio reportedly scrapped the planned ‘Ant-Man 4’ installment, and now the fate of the characters involved is uncertain in the MCU.
Luckily for us, the Ant Family was the focus of Alex Perez’s recent Discord AMA. The insider was asked about the franchise and well, it’s complicated.
Alex Perez shared that Hope Van Dyne’s character is currently just mentioned in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ and is running the Pym Van Dyne Foundation, with no major developments for her in the near future.
He also noted that the same applies to Hank and Janet, although there were plans for their characters that were never fully realized. Regarding the canceled ‘Ant-Man 4,’ Alex explained that the film never had many ideas in development, so it wasn’t really canceled, just never properly greenlit.
There are references to her character, particularly in Daredevil: Born Again, which is what comes to mind for me atm. But outside of that, I think she’s currently just running the Pym Van Dyne Foundation. Other than that, nothing’s really happening with her character.
The same could be said for Hank and Janet, which is a shame, given the way they were planning on delivering the final curtain call for those two. HOWEVER, I know that the use (and abuse) of the Pym Particle will be a topic that will be explored in future films.
hose films barely had any ideas in development, so it’s not really a cancellation if nothing was ever properly greenlit to begin with.

It makes sense to keep the tech and ditch the characters, especially taking into account that Evangeline Lilly announced her retirement shortly after ‘Quantumania’ was released.
