How Fast Is Spider-Man? Compared to Other Fast Superheroes

Spider-Man is among the most iconic characters in Marvel Comics Universe, and this is due to, in large part, the unique powers that he gained when he was bitten by a radioactive spider. We know that Peter Parker is notable for shooting webbing, wallcrawling, and the spidey sense that provides him with a certain type of precognition, and this is why he is capable of avoiding danger. But what about his speed? Spider-Man is known to be able to perform acrobatic miracles in mid-air and dodge things extremely fast. This is why we decided to explore how fast Spider-Man is, especially when compared to other fast superheroes.
According to his in-comic profile, Spider-Man can reach speeds up to 700 miles per hour, putting him in the “superhuman” speed bracket. Spider-Man is notorious for being among the fastest superheroes and combatants in the Marvel Universe. He is often used as a benchmark when it comes to testing reflexes and reaction times.
Now that we’ve summarized Spider-Man’s speed, it’s time to analyze it in more detail. If you’re interested in more, stay with us and keep reading!
Why is Spider-Man so fast?
Well, Spider-Man is fast because of his spider physiology which greatly enhanced his strength, speed, and durability. When a radioactive spider bit Peter, he didn’t just get awesome new superpowers. He was changed on a molecular level and provided with bodily tissues superior to a regular human.
Now fully transformed Spider-Man is capable of some feats that are unreachable to the average human being or even the finest human athletes. Spider-Man can crawl on walls. Seemingly unaffected by the rules of gravity, he gained other extraordinary acrobatic abilities and superior reflexes.
Spider-Man’s top speed, according to the official info, is 700 miles per hour, although he is known to be able to reach even more on certain occasions. Spider-Man often dodges bullets and cars and frequently outruns other superhuman characters.
While in combat, Spider-Man appears as a blur and often demonstrates his superior reaction times, but is Super-Man’s speed all about his superior physiology, or is there something else?
Spider-Man has Spider-Sense boosting his feats
Spider-Man is also notable for having the so-called Spider-Sense that allows him to predict danger and avoid it with a high success rate. Spider-Sense works by warning Peter in advance of his opponent’s moves so he can react accordingly. The warning is usually delivered as a tingling at the back of his skull.
Spider-Sense is mystical in nature, and it is suspected that it stems from Peter’s connection to the Web of Life and Destiny. It gives him several hundredths of a second warning, which gives Spider-Man enough time to react.
Peter cannot discern the nature of the danger, but he can predict the severity of the danger, and while Spider-Sense is active, Spider-Man’s movements are almost automatic in nature, allowing him to dodge even the just-fired automatic weapons.
Overall, there is certainly more to Spider-Man’s speed than the mere presence of superhuman physiology, as barely any other character can go up against this type of mystical precognition, but we’re still going to try to compare him with other characters in Marvel Comics.
Spider-Man vs. Quicksilver: Who is faster?
Quicksilver is by far among the most notable Marvel Speedsters because his power stems from his mutant speed physiology. Over the years, Quicksilver has had some impressive feats. He once ran from Tibet to Indonesia in a few seconds, and one panel even showed him being faster than radio waves (although this was later “debunked” since the editor wasn’t aware of the speed at which radio waves move.) When it’s put into numbers, Quicksilver can reach from mach-2 to orbital velocity speeds, which is way faster than Spider-Man.
While Quicksilver’s speed is supersonic in nature, Spider-Man’s is superhuman, and those two tiers are completely separated. Even though Quicksilver is able to move faster, it’s questionable whether he would be able to reach as fast as Spider-Man can due to the lack of precognition that Spider-Man has.
Is Spider-Man faster than Daredevil?
Daredevil and Spider-Man are often compared because they both have some of the most iconic superhuman senses in the comics. Daredevil has radar sense with which he can project 3D images inside his head even though he is technically blind, and you already know what Spider-Sense can do. The debate was settled long ago when Dardevil’s radar sense was better overall than Spider-Sense, but what about their speeds?
Daredevil might have better senses, but his speed is nowhere near what Spider-Man can reach. Daredevil’s speed was never explicitly stated, but it is assumed that he has a speed slightly faster than peak human athletes. Daredevil is not superhuman, he is merely an enhanced human, and his relatively normal physiology reflects that. Daredevil can see the danger coming even though he is blind, but Spider-Man can outrun it much faster than Daredevil.
How does Spider-Man compare to Black Panther in terms of speed?
Like Daredevil, Black Panther is an enhanced human, which means that his physiology is mostly normal, with a few side-enhancements granted to him by the Heart-shaped Herb and his vibranium suits. Black Panther can reach speeds of up to 35 miles per hour, but in extreme circumstances has been shown to be able to reach 41-45 miles per hour.
According to the raw numbers, Spider-Man is much faster than Black Panther while moving and in combat.
Is Spider-Man faster than Captain America?
Captain America was unfortunately not bitten by a radioactive spider, but his physiology got enhanced by ingesting the Super-Soldier Serum, which raised his performance to a level that far surpasses the average human being.
Captain America can reach speeds of up to 35 miles per hour, although his top recorded speed was 60 miles per hour while sprinting. At the end of the day, Captain America is merely an enhanced human like Black Panther and Daredevil, which makes him far slower than Spider-Man.
