Prior to the release of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ the MCU has only hinted at the idea of mutants, but the concept has never been as clear as it was in Deadpool’s Threequel. There have been many references and Easter eggs to the X-Men, but they weren’t mentioned in the same way as they were in this new release.

We already have a few mutants in the MCU, like Kamala Khan and Namor, who will likely appear in future movies. There was also a cameo from Professor X and Beast in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ and ‘The Marvels.’

We know that mutants and X-Men in general will be at the core of MCU’s next Saga, Feige himself stated that the era of mutants has begun.

Live-action reboot is currently being penned by Michael Lesslie, and while we don’t know much about the team or their stories, industry insiders are always more than happy to shed some light on what the future will bring.

Alex Perez recently discussed mutants in his Discord AMA. One of the questions was related to X-Men and the possible members of future Avengers. The X-Men lineup has quite a few members as you all know, so it’s not really practical to include them all in the Avengers lineup as well.

Perez confirmed that Charles Xavier and Beast will definitely be in the Avengers. He also mentioned hearing that Channing Tatum’s Gambit will be included, but beyond that, it’s not fully confirmed yet.

Alex Perez: Charles Xavier and Beast for sure are in it. I heard we’re getting Tatum’s Gambit as well. Outside of that, not 100% sure yet.

This is excellent news for Tatum’s Gambit considering that he spent the last few months advocating for either his solo movie or inclusion to the mainline MCU. Fans like the idea as well.

The next question was related to one old rumor which states that X-Men used to exist in the MCU but they were removed from the Sacred Timeline but He Who Remains. Perez confirmed that even though the X-Men were removed from the Sacred Timeline and will be restored in a post-Secret Wars reboot, existing mutants like Ms. Marvel and Namor will still remain in the MCU.

RedGyarados2010: In the past, you’ve teased that the Sacred Timeline created by HWR removed the X-Men, and they will be restored in a post-SW soft reboot. How will this affect existing mutants such as Ms. Marvel and Namor?

Alex Perez: They’ll still exist.
