As one of the final major films in the MCU’s Phase Five, Captain America: Brave New World is set to release on February 14, 2025.

Anthony Mackie will step into the role of Captain America, succeeding Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers from the earlier films, but the movie is expected to bring more surprises in this regard.

While many fans are excited to see Sam Wilson rise in the Marvel hierarchy, others still long for Chris Evans, and like other iconic Marvel heroes, they struggle to envision anyone else portraying their favorite superhero. This creates a challenging starting point for the film.

Additionally, the production has faced numerous issues, including reshoots and significant rewrites that have altered the movie. With the release date approaching, reports from World of Reel indicate that the initial test screenings have been quite disappointing.

Captain America: Brave New World will feature a mix of both new and returning characters, as the film promises a complex and expansive storyline.

In addition to familiar faces from The Incredible Hulk, including Thaddeus Ross’s transformation into the Red Hulk, the movie will introduce the Serpent Society, led by Seth Voelker/Sidewinder, portrayed by Giancarlo Esposito. The controversial character Sabra will also make an appearance.

Fans are uncertain about the film’s direction and are worried it may not succeed. They’ve been following its development closely since the announcement.

Marvel is currently conducting test screenings, and according to a report from World of Reel, the early feedback isn’t promising:

Two different cuts of the film test screened last week, and plot details for one of the cuts have leaked online. The person who attended didn’t seem to like the movie all that much.

Based on the folks I’ve spoken to, those who attended were either given a red or green bracelet and were split up into two different theaters. The reactions I’ve heard have not been very kind to this movie, which is being described as “inessential” and “flat.”

To be honest, we can’t verify the accuracy of this information, so take this report with a grain of salt. We have no way to reach these “sources,” but given the circumstances, this outcome wouldn’t really surprise us. We just hope the reports are somewhat exaggerated and that the movie won’t completely fail next year.
