In July 2018, a film based on the Marvel Comics character Riri Williams/Ironheart had a script written by Jada Rodriguez and was listed on The Black List. However, the film did not materialize. In December 2020, Marvel Studios announced the development of a Disney+ television series titled ‘Ironheart.’
Now 3 years after her first appearance, it looks like the wait is finally over for Riri as her show will release in 2025. During the Disney Upfront presentation, plenty of information has been presented and we decided to conveniently summarize them for you in this neat guide.
Ironheart will follow Riri after the events of ‘Wakanda Forever’
Not much was known about the show except that it will follow Riri Williams. Now we know that it’s going to follow Riri after her return back home to Chicago and she will discover “dangerous threads that bring danger and adventure”.
This sort of aligns with rumors we covered several weeks ago, that the show will focus on your classical “overcome all bad things despite your circumstances” tropes with a mix of demons, magic going haywire, and a 17-year-old vendetta coming to light. Fans were quick to point out that the vendetta in question might tied to Obadiah Stane’s son.
The cast has been revealed and we can look forward to plenty of new characters
The only thing that was certain was that Riri would reprise her role, now following the presentation we have new info available:
- Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams / Ironheart
- Anthony Ramos as Parker Robbins / The Hood
- Alden Ehrenreich as Joe McGillicuddy
- Lyric Ross as Natalie Washington
- Matthew Elam as Xavier Washington
- Anji White as Ronnie Williams
- Manny Montana as Cousin John
- Shea Couleé as Slug
- Jim Rash as the Dean of MIT

‘Ironheart’ is coming in 2025, 3 years after her last appearance
“Ironheart” is set for release on Disney+ in 2025, comprising six episodes. The first episode is tentatively scheduled for release on September 3, 2025, according to a filing with the United States Copyright Office. Originally planned for late 2023, its release was delayed as Disney and Marvel Studios re-evaluated their content output by February 2023. Initially reported for a 2024 release in May 2023, the series was subsequently removed from Marvel Studios’ release schedule in September 2023 due to strikes by the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA, impacting its completion. It will be part of Phase Five of the MCU.
