Is Red Hulk Wasted on Sam Wilson’s Captain America? Some Fans Seem to Think So

‘Captain America: Brave New World’ released its first teaser trailer on Friday. The movie showcased Harrison Ford in the role of Thaddeus Ross, who near the end of the trailer transforms into a Red Hulk, one of the most notable villains of Jade Giant.

Several things regarding the teaser trailer were criticized starting with the fact that Sam Wilson is Captain America in the first place and Red Hulk’s poor CGI, but I guess we can add one more item to the list – fans think that Red Hulk is a villain is wasted on ‘Captain America’ movie.

There are several reasons for this. First, Red Hulk is as I’ve already mentioned primarily Hulk’s villain, and many fans pointed out already that it seems that Sam Wilson will be taking on more than one Hulk villain in the movie. Don’t forget that The Leader is also in the film. Red Hulk was most likely used in the movie because there is simply no opportunity to use it in Hulk’s movie. As Ruffalo confirmed several months ago, there are no plans still to give Hulk his standalone movie.

There’s also a good theory developed some time ago, that Red Hulk will be used to slowly turn MCU’s Hulk back into Savage Hulk, kickstarting the World War Hulk storyline.

The second objection that fans have is the fact that Sam Wilson is not a superhuman with Super Soldier Serum. They can’t wrap their minds around how he could possibly take down an enemy that has the potential to be stronger than Hulk.

This is easily solved with plot armor, Captain America stands no chance against Thanos and yet we’ve seen him fighting the Mad Titan several times. There’s also the fact that Red Hulk, while having the potential to be stronger than Hulk depending on his anger, still has some weaknesses that the normal version of Hulk doesn’t have. Red Hulk overheats the angrier he gets, meaning that Captain America would simply need to make him angry enough to defeat him. Red Hulk also has a weakness to sharp weapons.
