Is Shawn Levy Hinting at a Deadpool & Spider-Man Crossover?

For many fans, the year’s most anticipated film is Deadpool & Wolverine, featuring Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool. This long-awaited team-up of these iconic characters is finally happening on the big screen, fulfilling a long-held fan wish.

While the pairing of Wolverine and Deadpool has been eagerly anticipated, especially following numerous references in previous Deadpool movies, there’s another character that Deadpool fans would love to see him team up with: Spider-Man. In Marvel’s comic book universe, Deadpool and Spider-Man share a notable buddy dynamic.

Although the future remains uncertain, Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy recently gave an intriguing interview that might hint at a possible crossover between Deadpool and Spider-Man.

The issue of Spider-Man in the MCU is a complex one, as fans will know. Although a Marvel character, the rights to him belong to Sony and not Disney, which is why the Spider-Man movies are a co-production between these two companies, and that – of course – makes crossovers a bit more difficult to execute.

On the other hand, until recently, the rights to Deadpool also belonged to another company – Fox -, but Disney bought out the company in full, so it was easier to integrate these two worlds; Disney buying off Sony seems… far-fetched, and that is a euphemism. This means that a crossover between Deadpool and Spider-Man would be difficult to execute but not impossible, and that is a point of view shared by Deadpool & Wolverine director, Shawn Levy, who said the following:

“The thing about Deadpool is I think he makes everything more interesting because of his audacity. But, boy, I’d sure love to see Deadpool and Spidey. That’s a movie I’d love to make. I feel like Tom Holland would run circles around everyone else.”

If you’re feeling optimistic, you might see this as a hint or tease for a possible crossover. However, it’s important to note that nothing official has been announced yet, and it remains uncertain whether a Deadpool and Spider-Man crossover will ever happen. Nevertheless, we’re definitely hoping for it!
