James Gunn & David Corenswet Will Be Featured on Exclusive ‘Superman Unlimited’ #1 Variant Cover!

James Gunn is making his way into the pages of DC Comics—well, at least onto the cover. The Superman Unlimited #1 variant cover, set to release in May 2025, will feature the acclaimed filmmaker in a unique artistic tribute.

As revealed in DC’s May 2025 comic solicitations, Gunn will appear on an alternate cover for Superman Unlimited #1, illustrated by renowned artist Dan Mora. While Gunn isn’t involved in writing or creating the comic, his presence on the cover is already generating buzz among fans.

The issue itself will be penned by Dan Slott and illustrated by Rafael Albuquerque, promising fresh and dynamic storytelling for the Man of Steel.

Some fans are already discussing the significance of Gunn’s appearance, with a few comparing it to past treatment of other directors. Notably, some have pointed out that Zack Snyder never received a similar tribute from DC Comics.

Superman Unlimited #1 is hitting shelves this May.
