Warner created the DCEU in response to the success of Disney’s MCU, aiming to develop their own superhero franchise using DC Comics’ characters. Despite its potential and star-studded cast, the DCEU struggled due to a series of missteps and flawed decisions.

James Gunn stepped in to take over from Zack Snyder as the head of the DCEU, opting to reboot and create a fresh fictional universe. His inaugural project, titled “Gods and Monsters,” marks a new beginning for the franchise, which was previously in disarray.

Recently, Gunn has been busy developing his own ‘Superman’ film and confirming several other projects. However, there are also numerous rumored projects circulating, leading to frequent questions directed at Gunn about their status. In a recent interaction with fans, Gunn provided clarification on the status of various upcoming projects and details regarding the second season of ‘Peacemaker.’

James Gunn is highly engaged on social media, frequently responding to fan inquiries and addressing rumors. While his responses can sometimes be cryptic, he occasionally offers straightforward insights that provide significant details about upcoming projects. Recently, a fan inquired about the ‘Paradise Lost’ project, likely referring to the speculated Wonder Woman prequel. Gunn responded:

“Nothing is “in production” unless it’s been greenlit. Right now that’s Superman, Supergirl, Penguin, Peacemaker, Lanterns, and a handful of animated projects. But Paradise Lost like many other titles known and unknown is still in very active development – it will be in production once we have a script or scripts we think are great and ready to shoot, never before. As an aside, we aren’t officially cast on anything that isn’t greenlit. 🧜‍♂️”

Simultaneously, this is promising news for those anticipating the mentioned shows and projects. However, it doesn’t necessarily mean discouraging news for fans awaiting ‘Paradise Lost.’ Gunn hasn’t explicitly stated that the project is canceled; he simply mentioned that it hasn’t received official approval at the time of this writing.

Additionally, Gunn was queried about the canon status of ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2. A fan asked, “How is Peacemaker season 2 coming along? Will it continue directly from the first season or diverge significantly to indicate it’s not canon?” Gunn responded to the fan’s inquiry with the following:

“It essentially picks up where season 1 left off with a couple minor differences.”
