James Gunn Teases DCU Batman Might Debut Before ‘The Brave and the Bold’

James Gunn and Peter Safran recently shared updates on the future of Batman in the DCU, including details about Batman: The Brave and the Bold and a potential appearance before his solo film.

While Matt Reeves’ The Batman Part II is still in development, Gunn and Safran confirmed that The Brave and the Bold is progressing well. Gunn, a longtime Batman fan, said he’s been heavily involved in shaping the project. However, he also made it clear that Robert Pattinson is unlikely to play the DCU’s version of Batman.

Matt Reeves is still working on the script for The Batman Part II, but what’s been written so far looks promising. The movie has been delayed to 2027. As for a second season of The Penguin with Colin Farrell, nothing is confirmed yet, as many factors are still up in the air.

Interestingly, Gunn hinted that the new Batman might show up in another DCU project before The Brave and the Bold. “I wouldn’t rule anything out,” he said. “He could show up in something else. But the actor doesn’t exist [yet].”

With multiple Batman-related projects in development, including The Penguin series and a Clayface horror film, fans have plenty to look forward to as the DCU takes shape.
