More than a year ago, James Gunn and Peter Safran took over DC Studios as Co-Producers and Co-CEOs, they announced a slate of movies, among them being the new live-action movie ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.’

‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ will be based on the comic written by Tom King. The limited series ran from 2021 to 2022 and painted Supergirl in a much darker light than we’re used to seeing her in. During the destruction of her home planet Krypton, Supergirl was stuck on a piece of the planet that drifted away. She grew up in a harsh environment with a lot of mental trauma to unpack, considering that she has seen everyone she loves die.

Not much is known about the cast except that Milly Alcock will star as Supergirl, and Sean Gunn is set to start as Maxwell Lord. Now the recent reports brought to light by Daniel Richtman, a notable industry insider point in the direction of Momoa being cast in the movie as Lobo.

The rumors that Momoa will be portraying Lobo are as old as DCU itself. After Aquman’s journey was finished with the release of ‘Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom’ the actor himself admitted that it would be really cool to play Lobo in Gunn’s new universe.

The fans had somewhat mixed reactions to this “announcement” disappointed that Momoa went from A-lister to D-list character so quickly, although it’s pretty much unanimous that the Game of Thrones actor would be perfect for the role.

The movie currently has a release date set for June 26, 2025. Filming is anticipated to commence in late 2024.
