“The Boys” is one of the world’s most popular superhero series, and its fourth season wrapped up recently on July 18, 2024. Although initial reactions were tepid, the series gained momentum and ended up being Certified Fresh with high ratings.

The fourth season has been packed with fascinating and surprising moments, many of which we’ve covered in our weekly episode reviews. Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s character, Kessler, is one we’ve discussed before, as he brought an intriguing dynamic to the cast, particularly with the Fight Club-esque twist related to his role.

Many fans have grown fond of Kessler, leading to questions about whether Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s alter ego will return in the final season. In addition to addressing this, Morgan also shared his praise for the character, and fans are thrilled with his response!

Fans have hailed Morgan’s Kessler as one of the standout additions to this season of the show. Although he is revealed to be an illusion created by Butcher’s mind (a spoiler only for those who haven’t watched Season 4), Kessler remains a captivating and popular character. Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s presence always excites fans, adding to the buzz whenever he appears on screen.

Given this popularity, Jeffrey Dean Morgan was asked if Kessler would return in Season 5. Along with his answer to Variety, he also praised another character, whose expanded role in the upcoming season has already been hinted at (and discussed by us!).

Will Kessler be returning in the final season after appearing in the backseat of Butcher’s car in the final moments? And if he does, are you looking forward to potential scenes with some of your “Supernatural” co-stars, including Jensen Ackles and Jim Beaver (who played president-elect Robert Singer)?

JEFFREY DEAN MORGAN: I don’t know how you do Season 5 without an appearance, at least. That’s my feeling. I’ve never had any official talks about it, but I think it’d be really hard to carry on without some sort of resolution — and hopefully that’ll be a whole season!

I want to have scenes with everyone that’s part of that show, but I obviously have a long-standing relationship with Jensen, especially. He’s like my brother. And then Jim is one of the coolest people in the world — so yeah, of course.

Jensen’s Soldier Boy was one of the single greatest characters I’ve seen in television in a long, long time. His performance blew me away. I did want to work with him — and we also have a really good time together, the two of us, especially. And, obviously, that was a carrot in front of my face that I was chasing after, sure.

As you can see, the actor is optimistic about returning for Season 5, even if it’s just a brief appearance, though he hopes for more. He expressed a desire to share scenes with various actors, but fans especially reacted to his comments about Soldier Boy.
