Marvel’s Street-Level Heroes Reunite: Jessica Jones, Iron Fist & Luke Cage Reportedly Set for ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2

Daredevil: Born Again recently premiered with the first two episodes, and both critics and audiences have unanimously given it an 85% approval rating, calling it a fresh and welcome addition to the MCU.
Even before the first season aired, the show was already renewed for a second season. Initially, the first season was set to have 18 episodes, but after a creative overhaul, executives decided to split it into two seasons.
Filming for Season 2 is already underway, with a release expected in early to mid-2026. It’s been confirmed that Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Michael Gandolfini will reprise their roles, while Matthew Lillard has been cast in an undisclosed part.
Although details are scarce, industry insider Alex Perez has some exciting news for fans hoping to see the Defenders return in the upcoming season. Perez recently had an AMA on Discord and a fan asked him if he had heard any rumors or information about Elektra appearing in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. Perez responded by saying that he hadn’t heard anything specific about Elektra’s involvement.
However, he mentions that the Defenders (the superhero team consisting of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist) are expected to return in the second season.
I haven’t. Although, I know the Defenders are expected to return. So it will be interesting to see how that plays out in the second season, and how Matt will convince them to step out of the shadows after what happens in season 1.
This is not the first time that Defenders were teased to ultimately become part of Daredevil’s mini-universe within the MCU. Brad Winderbaum was pretty outspoken regarding the fact that we might see some characters from Netflix’s Defenders saga in the show and that he would like to see Jessica Jones’ story continue in the MCU.
One more fan asked about Elektra during AMA but also mentioned Typhoid Mary, one of Daredevil’s most important adversaries. Perez responded by highlighting that New York City will undergo significant changes between the end of Season 1 and the beginning of Season 2.
He mentions the impact of martial law and the outlawing of vigilantes, suggesting these developments will create interesting dynamics in the story. Alex also expresses curiosity about how these changes will not only affect the main storyline but also ripple through the larger MCU, emphasizing that the show does a great job of tying into various MCU elements, whether directly or indirectly related.
New York City will be a very different landscape from when we start DD:BA to when we finish the first season. When we start the second season, it’s going to be a really interesting thing to see how martial law and vigilantes being outlawed will play out. I’m curious to see how the story will not only affect the main storyline of the show, but send ripples through the rest of the MCU. Because one thing this show does really well is tie into different aspects of the MCU that are sometimes related and sometimes not so related.
