Jessie T. Usher, who plays A-Train in The Boys, has shared his thoughts on whether his character could return to The Seven in the show’s final season. The hit Prime Video series has built a strong following since its 2019 debut, and A-Train’s story has been one of the most unpredictable.
He started as a straight-up villain, then shifted into an antihero, and later became a double agent. With Season 5 being the last, many are wondering how his story will end. In a short talk at the Saturn Awards, Usher said he would be very surprised if A-Train rejoined The Seven after what happened in Season 4.
At the same time, he admitted that such a twist wouldn’t be boring. ‘It would blow my mind to see him make another turn back to the dark side, but it also wouldn’t be uninteresting,’ he said. He added that he’s open to any direction as long as it’s creative and fun.
A-Train’s journey has been anything but simple. He went from being a core member of The Seven to secretly working against them. If he were to rejoin the team, it would be a massive shift—one that might not make sense given how much he’s changed.
His redemption has been slow, and by the end of Season 4, he was stuck in a tough spot. Homelander knew he had been working against him, and A-Train had made enemies on both sides.
What makes his future even more complicated is his connection to Hughie. A-Train’s reckless actions in the first episode set everything in motion when he accidentally killed Hughie’s girlfriend, Robin.
That moment turned Hughie against Vought and The Seven, creating years of bad blood between them. However, by Season 4’s end, the two had reached a fragile truce.
Now, with Butcher going rogue and The Boys scattered, A-Train could end up siding with Annie to help bring the group back together. Whether that means fully turning against Homelander or finding some other path remains to be seen. But if he does go back to The Seven, it’ll take one hell of a reason to make it believable.
