’28 Years Later’ is an upcoming horror film set in a post-apocalyptic world, directed by Danny Boyle and written by Alex Garland. It’s the third movie in the ’28 Days Later’ series, starring Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Fiennes, and Cillian Murphy, who also acts as an executive producer.

Unlike the previous films, this one isn’t produced by 20th Century Studios. It’s a joint project between Columbia Pictures, the British Film Institute, Decibel Films, and DNA Films. The film will be released on June 20, 2025, and was filmed on an iPhone, along with its sequel, ’28 Years Later Part II: The Bone Temple.’

For now, the plot is mostly under wraps, but as we approach the release of the movie we are finding out some details and some general directions of the story.

Nearly 30 years after the Rage Virus spread from a lab, some survivors live on a small island, cut off from the infected mainland by a heavily guarded causeway. When one survivor ventures into the mainland, they uncover shocking secrets and terrifying surprises about the world beyond.

Jodie Comer plays Isla, who is raising her son Spike with Jamie (played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson). Spike has never known life before the infected took over.

Jodie recently talked to ‘Empire’ regarding her role in the movie and revealed one interesting detail related to stunt performers and the Infected. Comer told ‘Empire’ that the stunt performers playing the infected in ’28 Years Later’ didn’t hold back, making her feel like she was truly running for her life.

She described how the performers chased her during intense scenes.

The thing about our stunt performers playing the infected is they really don’t take the speed off for you. They chase you. There were so many moments where I felt like I was actually running for my life!

Comer also shared that director Boyle loved capturing the action, saying, “He just said, ‘I love this stuff’,” Comer recalls. “I said, ‘Why?’ ‘Because you just have to go there. You can’t fake it. You have to really go there in order for the audience to be with you.’

The actress also shortly described her relationship with her son saying that she is ” a true beacon of light for her” and she humorously added that she hopes he is fast on his feet.
