‘Agatha All Along’ is the next installment in the MCU that we can look forward to. The show has been described as drama, horror, and a bit of a musical following Agatha Harkness as she tries to regain her magic following her imprisonment at the hands of the Scarlet Witch.

The show is set to introduce a variety of characters, Salem Seven and the Witches’ Road, all important concepts for the future of magic in the MCU.

Recently, the first trailer for the show was released and it’s been confirmed that Joe Locke is playing Billy Kaplan, aka Wiccan in the comics. Locke’s character is described as “a gay teen with a dark sense of humor.”

In his most recent interview with Rolling Stone, the ‘Heartstopper’ star explained what kind of a role his sexual orientation will have in the show:

The way it’s explored in the show is very truthful and very positive. His sexuality is just one part of the character.

For the audience that is not very familiar with the source material, Billy Kaplan is Scarlet Witch’s son in the comics, well, William’s soul reincarnated in Billy’s body, he is an incredibly gifted magic user going under the alias Wiccan, and will no doubt down the line be part of the MCU’s Young Avengers.

Just as in the show, the character’s sexual orientation is incredibly important in the comics as well, as Wiccan famously has a relationship with Skrull/Kree Hybrid Teddy Altman also known as Hulkling.

Locke also teased numerous twists and turns, as well as comedy in the show:

It’s a dark comedy about witches. It’s not what you would usually expect from a Marvel series. […]We gather a coven and a very unlikely group of women and me — which is my life in general — get on the Witches’ Road. Then magic, fun, and mystery prevails. […]It’s definitely darker. It’s actually a little bit scary, which is good. I think it’s a great start for a new journey within the MCU of exploring different types of characters that aren’t like Iron Man or Captain America. It’s a new type of superhero, which I think is exciting.
