Marvel’s Daredevil: Born Again series is one of the most eagerly anticipated projects, poised to significantly influence the future of the MCU’s television shows. As you may know, Daredevil and other characters from the Marvel TV label have recently been integrated into the MCU, since the Netflix series operated under a separate banner. This integration has opened up a wealth of new possibilities.
The excitement surrounding the series is largely due to the return of Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin, a character fans are eager to see back in action. Additionally, Charlie Cox’s portrayal of Daredevil has garnered such a strong following that audiences are thrilled to see him reprise his role in a standalone series. Adding to the anticipation, Jon Bernthal is also returning as The Punisher, and it seems the filming was as intense as one might expect.
In a recent interview with IMDb, Bernthal and Cox shared some behind-the-scenes details, revealing that Bernthal nearly broke Cox’s rib during filming—a testament to the intense and dynamic nature of their scenes together, fitting for a character as brutal as The Punisher.
The interview in question was an extensive one given by the cast of Daredevil: Born Again to IMDb, but this particular detail stood out as the most intriguing. That’s why we’ve chosen to highlight it here on Comic Basics. Here’s the excerpt:
If you can’t open the video, here’s a recap: Bernthal initially responded to an IMDb fact stating that his nose had been broken 14 times during various projects. He confirmed that the number has since increased to 15. When asked if Charlie Cox was one of the actors responsible, Bernthal denied it.
However, Cox’s experience with Bernthal wasn’t as fortunate. Cox revealed that Bernthal almost broke one of his ribs while filming Daredevil, saying, “He kicked me so hard, I couldn’t breathe.” This incident, while intense, seems very fitting for Bernthal, which gave us a chuckle—though we’re relieved that Charlie Cox came out of it unscathed.
