Josh Gad recently shared some exciting news about Frozen 3 on The Spotlight with Jessica Shaw podcast, though he couldn’t spill too much. The movie is expected to hit theaters in Thanksgiving 2027, but there’s a solid reason behind the long wait.

Gad, who voices Olaf, revealed that the delay is to ensure the movie is more than just another sequel. Disney wants to make sure it’s truly worthy of the beloved first film from 2013.

Gad explained that the team is working hard on crafting a story that will live up to the huge success of both Frozen and its 2019 sequel. He promised that Disney is putting in the effort to deliver something fans will be excited about after all these years. But, he warned, any further details could land him in hot water with Disney’s legal team.

The original Frozen became a massive hit, making it one of the highest-grossing animated films of all time. It even inspired a Broadway adaptation that opened in 2018.

Gad and his co-stars Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, and Jonathan Groff have all talked about how the Frozen films changed their careers in ways they never expected. Bell admitted she didn’t anticipate the franchise’s crazy success but always felt it was something special during production.

Fans can look forward to Frozen 3, but it seems like it’ll be worth the wait for those of us who are still excited about the snowman and his friends.
