This year’s SDCC has shaken MCU to its core. No one was surprised when it was revealed that ‘Avengers: Kang Dynasty’ was retitled into ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ in light of everything that Majors has done.

However, fans were definitely surprised that Robert Downey Jr. is returning in the role of Doctor Doom and that the villain will presumably be the main focus of Multiverse Saga.

This announcement has stirred mixed reactions at best, with plenty of fans being vocal that Kang’s story should have been continued, even if that meant recasting the role. Yesterday we reported on Doom’s alleged plans for the next two ‘Avengers’ movies, and today industry inside and leaker MyTimeToShineHello has revealed what ‘Kang Dynasty’ was supposed to be about.

According to the scooper in ‘Avengers: Kang Dynasty’, the TVA would begin collecting Anchor Beings from across the Multiverse, believing they were the key to defeating the Council of Kangs. Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield were Anchors for their respective realities, while Tom Holland’s Spider-Man served as the Anchor for Earth-616.

The movie aimed to be smaller in scope than ‘Secret Wars,’ focusing on Holland’s Peter Parker, Maguire, Garfield, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, and other Anchors like Nic Cage’s Ghost Rider. The storyline was designed for these characters to ultimately fail, leading to the Multiverse’s collapse and Kang’s creation of Battleworld, setting up the stage for ‘Secret Wars,’ where other MCU characters and Multiverse figures would converge on Battleworld.

It sounds like a solid plot and plenty of fans voiced their opinion that this truly is the way in which the MCU should have continued:

This “plan” wasn’t confirmed by the official sources, and you should likely take it with the grain of salt considering MyTimeToShine’s somewhat “gray” record when it comes to accuracy but it does sound plausible. As plenty pointed out in the comments it sounds a lot like what happened in the comics only with Doom switched with Kang, and the story that they plan to deliver now will likely be similar to this but more comic-accurate.
