The Boys is one of the most popular superhero series globally, and its fourth season recently concluded on July 18, 2024. Although initial reactions to the season were lukewarm, the show gained momentum and ended up being Certified Fresh with high ratings.

The fourth season featured many fascinating and surprising moments. While we’ve discussed numerous characters, Kimiko, who had her most shocking moment in the season finale, hasn’t been a focal point in our discussions. This report aims to change that.

In this article, we’ll cover Karen Fukuhara’s recent appearance on the “I’ve Never Said This Before With Tommy DiDario” podcast. In the interview, Fukuhara shared fascinating insights about Kimiko, her audition process, and her personal life.

As mentioned, Karen Fukuhara appeared on the “I’ve Never Said This Before With Tommy DiDario” podcast. When asked about her hopes for the upcoming final season of The Boys, Fukuhara revealed one specific fight she wanted to see:

TD: If there’s one thing that you would want to see for your character, and I know the writers are brilliant and they’re going to take care of it all, but if you could see one thing… and you’re like, man, I really hope I get to play this? What is that?

KF: Ooh? I would love to see a Kimiko-Homelander face-off moment. But also be careful what I wish for, because Homelander is very powerful, and a face-off might not be a great idea for Kimiko. But I loved Game of Thrones, and I thought that the Arya Stark victory against the White Walkers was just so… like, unexpected and amazing. I just loved that… that moment when she… she’s the one to do it. You know, it’s very unexpected, and so I don’t know. I’m… maybe it’s Kimiko that takes down Homelander who knows, or she might die in the process, so… knock on wood. I really don’t want that. I’m like… maybe not.

TD: You know what… I don’t think maybe she’s gonna die. I don’t think she’s gonna die. My money is on Kimiko, because you know what… Kimiko fights smartly. It’s not just about, like, the ego, move, or acting rashly. Like… I feel, like, she’s a very smart fighter.

KF: I would like to think that, too. I would like to think that, too. And I… yeah, I mean… they always say that once you speak it into existence, the writers won’t write it so… (TD: No, really?) Yeah, yeah, yeah! That’s what the… Actually, the writers on our show told us that. They were like, yeah, if you have any ideas, a lot of times, like, when you say it out loud, it never happens. Because that also means that it’s something that can be… like, imagined, or other people will expect this too, so it’s not good enough. You know, I don’t know. Maybe that’s the reasoning… But yeah, I like to keep my mouth shut with you know, like future prediction questions.

This is certainly an intriguing perspective, and we learned some fascinating details from Fukuhara. To listen to the entire podcast, you can follow this link.
