Kate Winslet is set to direct her first film, Goodbye June, a contemporary family drama coming to Netflix. The movie will also feature Winslet in a starring role, alongside a talented cast including Toni Collette, Johnny Flynn, Andrea Riseborough, Timothy Spall, and Helen Mirren.

The story, written by Winslet’s son Joe Anders, focuses on a group of siblings who are forced to come together in the face of challenging circumstances. Set in modern-day England, it promises to explore the complexities of family dynamics.

Along with directing, Winslet is also producing the film, with Kate Solomon as a producer and Working Title serving as executive producers.

The film will be shot on location in the UK later this year. While this marks Winslet’s first time in the director’s chair, she was heavily involved in the production of Lee, a film where she not only starred but also produced.

Winslet and Solomon have already received a nomination for outstanding British film at the BAFTA awards for Lee.
