Kathryn Hahn Shares She Proposed Agatha’s Nude Scene in Agatha All Along

Agatha All Along is the MCU’s latest series, serving as a spinoff of the beloved WandaVision. The show went through several title changes before settling on its final name, which is impressive given the numerous rebrandings. It premiered on Disney+ on September 18, 2024, with two episodes, and the remaining seven episodes will be released weekly until November 6.

Initial reviews hinted at an entertaining and engaging experience; however, while the show’s unique charm was evident, critics’ responses were less favorable than expected. In contrast, fans have embraced it, offering high praise.

Fortunately, the early reactions have improved significantly, and the series is currently thriving. One noteworthy moment is a nude scene featuring Agatha, which actress Kathryn Hahn revealed she actually pitched to the writers.

During the premiere, Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha made history as the first female character in the MCU to show her buttocks, following Hulk’s appearance in Thor: Ragnarok and Thor’s in Thor: Love and Thunder. This moment not only became a memorable part of Marvel history but also added a humorous twist—after all, it was Agatha all along (pun intended).

In an interview with Variety, Hahn revealed that she was the one who pitched this scene to the writers, making her the “culprit” behind its inclusion in the series. Here’s what she had to say:

“Well, I came up with it. I thought it was good to see her as stripped down, literally, as we possibly could, which spoke into her powerlessness at the present moment. She’s been stripped of all of her power at this point in the series. I mean, she really had nothing at that point, and so it became about illustrating that gap between that moment and her finding her power again.”

As you can see, the scene carries significant symbolic value, which is fantastic. Showrunner Jac Schaeffer confirmed it was indeed “Kathryn all along,” and she shared the following details:

Kathryn was like, ‘Would she grab the robe? I don’t feel like she would grab the robe. I feel like she would really not care about being naked in front of the neighbors.’ I told her, ‘That is the greatest idea I’ve ever heard.’ Kathryn has done so much work, and she’s done a lot of nudity and other things, and so it also felt very subversive to get Kathryn Hahn’s nudity into the MCU. It is so true to her character, and it makes me laugh out loud. And also, I mean, she looks incredible.
