Fans Want Dafne Keen as MCU’s Wolverine But Not Everyone Agrees: “Don’t make her play second fiddle”

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ was released more than a week ago, and so far the movie has been a commercial and critical success. A large number of reasons why the movie is so praised is the fact that it brought a lot of legacy characters into the spotlight.

Think Garner’s Elektra, Evans’ Human Torch, and Snipes’ Blade. Among numerous cameos, one has been revealed at the last minute – Dafne Keen’s X-23 from ‘Logan’ released in 2017.

Keen had only one appearance in the Fox X-Men universe but she stayed a beloved character with many praising her performance this is why fans were hyped even for mere rumors that she would appear in the movie. The actress lied about her role for months, debunking rumors on several occasions.

Now ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ presents us with a grown-up Laura, her role in the movie was relatively small but she brought some real change within Wolverine urging him to be the best version of himself.

Seeing Dafne Keen as a grown-up X-23, fans started petitioning for the actress to become MCU’s Wolverine. Hugh Jackman reprised his role as Wolverine, yes, but he is still not MCU’s Wolverine, he is just a variant and it’s unknown whether he will reprise his role in the future taking into account his age.

Casting Keen as Wolverine would solve several age-related problems, it would ensure longevity and compatibility with “Young Avengers’ but it would also continue one problematic trend in the MCU – genderswapping established characters with female variants. This is why a good portion of fans disagree with the proposal.
