This year’s D23 was full of exciting reveals, both when it comes to the Marvel Studios panel and the Marvel Animation panel. Just one of many reveals was the collaboration between Epic Games and Marvel which will see some of the most notable characters from Marvel in the game.
On August 16, Fortnite’s Battle Royale will introduce Marvel characters Doctor Doom and the Fantastic Four in Chapter 5, Season 4: ‘Absolute Doom.’ This update allows players to discover clues about future Marvel films, in a way creating a connection between a game and the upcoming projects.
This is not the first time that Marvel characters have been featured in Fortnite as you probably know if you’re playing the game somewhat regularly. Galactus was introduced at the end of Chapter 2: Season 3, he a major antagonist sought to absorb Zero Point’s power to defeat the Black Winter but was defeated by Marvel heroes sent by Thor. Everything culminated in the Devourer of Worlds live event. Although no longer directly involved, his actions have had significant impacts, both positive and negative, on seasons from Chapter 2: Season 5 to Chapter 2: Season 8, as well as Chapter 3: Season 2 during the Zero War.
During the D23 event, Feige revealed one surprising piece of information on how Fortnite has already affected one upcoming movie. Feige revealed that he shared a Fortnite clip of Galactus destroying worlds with the crew of ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ to serve as inspiration.
Galactus was confirmed to appear in the movie when the official casting of Ralph Ineson was made public. During this year’s SDCC we also had the opportunity to see the first visual render of Galactus, as the villain staring through windows on a high-rise building.
It’s unlikely that this is truly how Galactus will look in the movie since the movie only recently entered production, but if it’s anything close to that, he’s going to be pretty comic-accurate.
