In a recent interview with Omelete, Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel Studios, confirmed that the X-Men will be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the near future.
Feige explained that the mutants will play an important role in the franchise, especially after the release of Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027.
He also reflected on the early planning stages of other major MCU projects, highlighting: ‘When we were gearing up for ‘Avengers: Endgame’ years ago, it was about reaching the climax of our storyline. After that, we had to start over. This time, as we approach ‘Secret Wars,’ we already have a clear vision of the story arc before and after it. The X-Men are crucial to that future.’
It’s worth noting that there has been no official announcement yet regarding the new X-Men movie, meaning a director and cast have not been confirmed.
The upcoming mutant reboot will be written by Michael Lesslie, known for his work on The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
However, a release date for the film has not been set. Still, this marks an exciting step for the MCU, as the X-Men are finally poised to make their long-awaited debut.
