For many fans, Deadpool & Wolverine was the most anticipated movie of the year. Starring Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, the film, which is still playing in theaters, delivered everything fans had hoped for. Packed with Easter Eggs, the movie has been a hit worldwide, with fans eagerly discovering and counting all the hidden details.

Beyond the iconic characters and obvious Marvel references, many of these Easter Eggs were cleverly hidden within Deadpool’s signature humor. Known for breaking the fourth wall, Deadpool frequently made meta-references, often taking jabs at both Disney and Kevin Feige.

In a recent interview with Variety, Marvel Studios head and MCU mastermind Kevin Feige responded to these jokes, and we’re here to share what he had to say.

Deadpool began poking fun at Disney and Feige early in the film, with one of the standout jokes involving cocaine. Deadpool humorously claims that Feige personally prohibited the use of cocaine in the movie, even going so far as to say that Feige had a list of all known synonyms for the drug. Here’s how Feige responded to this particular gag:

Deadpool makes a joke in the trailer about you saying cocaine is the one thing that’s off-limits. Did you really say that?

I didn’t say they couldn’t. But we were talking about everybody always being afraid of Disney-fying things. This is the biggest entertainment company in the world for 100 years. You should be so lucky to Disney-fy everything! But what people mean by that is shaving down the rough edges. We were open to everything. I had said there were some things that we could evolve. After about the 28th time you do a joke, sometimes it’s not as funny. Maybe I’m slightly prudish when it comes to drug use. But I was like “Eh, it’s not that funny” in passing. Ryan, of course, stores everything in his brain for later use as excellent jokes. And he added it to the script.

Another notable joke occurred at the film’s end when Deadpool quipped to Wolverine that Disney would have him playing the role until he’s 90. This clever meta moment was a nod to the real Hugh Jackman, who was playing Wolverine. However, since Wolverine is around 200 years old and unfamiliar with who “Hugh Jackman” is, many fans are left wondering if Wolverine even got the joke.
