Kevin Feige’s Comments Suggest How Shows Like ‘Moon Knight,’ ‘Punisher,’ ‘Jessica Jones’ and Even ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Could Get New Seasons

By September 2018, Marvel Studios began developing limited series for Disney+, focusing on “second-tier” MCU characters who were unlikely to have their own films. These series would feature actors reprising their roles from the films, with Kevin Feige playing a central role in ensuring continuity between the series and the movies

The keyword here is “limited series” as those types of shows have a predetermined number of episodes to tell the story, and they are unlikely to return for a second season with the exceptions being ‘Loki,’ ‘What If…?’ and now ‘X-Men ’97.’

Back when Marvel shows were not tied to Disney+ it was the norm to give them several seasons the prime examples being ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ and The Defenders Saga which was released on Netflix.

Now Feige’s recent comments seem to indicate that Marvel Studios might take this strategy under consideration again. Speaking to Omelete during this year’s D23 in Brazil, Feige commented how ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ will be the start of a new direction for the studio.

He expressed that Marvel Studios plans to renew more of its series for multiple seasons in the future. He emphasizes that ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ will be the starting point for this approach, highlighting that developing shows over several seasons is one of the best aspects of television storytelling. Feige is signaling that more shows will follow this model, allowing for longer, more developed narratives.

We’re going to have more renewals. It starts with Daredevil: Born Again… This shows that we like the idea of developing series for multiple seasons – after all, that’s one of the coolest things about television.

This is certainly good news for fans of some Disney+ shows that were never expected to get a second season. In recent times, there have been plenty of rumors that Marvel Studios is developing ‘Moon Knight’ Season 2 and ‘Hawkeye’ Season 2.

The loudest rumors however are those related to the Defenders Saga. Winderbaum stated a few weeks back that he would love for Jessica Jones to have another season – this time in the MCU. The exec also teased that Punisher has a future in the MCU beyond just appearance in ‘Daredevil: Born Again.’

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ has already been renewed for a second season, ahead of the season 1 premiere with filming expected to commence soon.
