MCU at first started with a bunch of movies that were connected with each other in one way or another. Eventually, the series was added to the mix, and while some projects have been met with mixed reviews, some were praised and spawned several spinoffs. Most notable was WandaVision, which spawned ‘Agatha: Darkhold Diaries,’ ‘Vision Quest,’ and the rumored Wiccan project

But while we do know that Marvel Studios’ strategy so far was to create only one season of the show, they made an exception for ‘Loki,’ and the second season turned out to be a massive hit, closing Loki’s character arc in the MCU perfectly. Due to the complications with ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ development, we also know that the studio is rethinking its strategy, and they are looking to adopt seasonal stories, more reminiscent of cable TV, where the shows run for several seasons.

In light of that, the producer of ‘Loki’ commented on the possible upcoming third season of the show in his interview with TVLine

“For two seasons, I’ve loved working with this team… I would love to keep telling those stories with them, in this world. I don’t think any of us would ever want to rush into a Season 3 if there’s not a good story to tell. But I think this team could go off and tell other stories. Maybe it’s not ‘Loki’ Season 3. Maybe there’s something we can continue to do at the TVA, and it’s like our ‘Better Call Saul’ to ‘Loki’s’ ‘Breaking Bad.’ That would be cool, to me.”

Since ‘Loki’ was always imagined as a two-season story, it would be incredibly hard to top that ending, so it stands to reason that Wright would want to move on and cover the TVA in more depth. Loki will undoubtedly play a massive role in the upcoming MCU phases, considering that he is the center of the Multiverse currently, but it’s really hard to use him directly in a show such as ‘Loki.’ The story of TVA agents, however, is only at the beginning; for the first time in forever, they have full transparency regarding their work, and my personal opinion is that it would be awesome to see them hunting down various rogue Kang the Conqueror’s variants.

Wright also confirmed that he has no idea where all these MCU characters will end up in the next few phases. In any case, Wright is perfectly open to the development of season 2, but he doesn’t want to rush into it if the story isn’t good.
