Kit Harington joined the MCU as a character Dane Whitman/ Black Knight with the release of ‘Eternals’ back in 2021. Even though the movie generally received mixed to bad reviews, fans loved Harington’s character and couldn’t wait to see him in more projects.

Whitman and Sersi had a relationship before the Deviants struck, but that obviously fell through when Whitman discovered that she was in fact an Eternal. Whitman developed his own story by the end of the movie when he discovered Ebony Blade.

It’s natural to expect that Whitman will reprise his role along with the rest of the Eternals, however, in recent months it’s been revealed that ‘Eternals 2’ is permanently on hold following a string of unsuccessful projects, and Harington himself confirmed a couple of months back that he doesn’t know whether he will reprise his role as Black Knight.

Now speaking to GQ, Harington admitted that he took on the role just beacuse Marvel called. He said that the role was never interesting or different from his previous works, but he felt like he had to accept it:

I’m not gonna pretend I took that [role] because it was different and interesting. If Marvel calls, you gotta do it.

Still, Harington admitted that he would return if they called again. Chances are that Harington’s character might be back sooner than expected, at least if we take rumors into account. Ebony Blade was already confirmed to be in the upcoming ‘Blade’ reboot, so there are good chances that we might see Dane as well.

There’s also that rumored ‘Midnight Sons’ project that might include the character as well. In any case, Harington doesn’t seem as enthusiastic to reprise his role as we hoped.
