Sony Pictures announced the development of ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ at CinemaCon in April 2022. Tom Hardy revealed that Kelly Marcel, who had worked on previous Venom films, was writing the screenplay and that he was co-writing the story with her.

Pre-production began in February 2023, and now only a few weeks stand between us and the release of the movie.

Initially, the interest in the movie was somewhat lukewarm, mostly due to ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ being considered inferior to the first installment in the franchise. SSU also lined up one catastrophic box office loss this year already ‘Madame Web’ so fans aren’t that excited about SSU movies currently.

Still, the last trailer release for the movie a few weeks back showcased a massive surprise when it was revealed that one of the most popular Marvel Comics villainsKnull will debut in the third installment.

It seems that Knull managed to reignite at least some of the lost interest in the movie, as the movie is currently projected to open with $80M-$120M on its domestic box office opening weekend according to BoxOffice Pro, which would be among the biggest box office openings this year.

Both ‘Venom’ films opened on the first weekend of October, with ‘Venom’ (2018) earning $80.2 million and ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ (2021) making $90 million in their opening weekends. Despite the difference in opening figures, both films ultimately grossed $213.5 million domestically, with ‘Let There Be Carnage’ outpacing the original by just $38,958.

No matter how much hype builds up, the fact still stands that 2024 is the year of superhero movies, with ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ being an absolute 2024 winner when it comes to the superhero movies box office.

A week stands between us and the release of ‘Joker 2,’ although its trend is currently pointing downward primarily due to the fact that the movie is a musical, and due to the bad reviews that the movie has received so far. SSU’s ‘Kraven the Hunter’ is also set to release in December.
