Kripke Hints at ‘Herogasm’ Debut in Upcoming ‘Vought Rising’

“The Boys” is one of the world’s most popular superhero series, with its fourth season concluding on July 18, 2024. The season received a Certified Fresh rating, and its viewership surpassed that of Season 3, despite some controversial fan reactions.

Although the season has ended, the franchise is expanding with several upcoming projects. In a recent interview, showrunner Eric Kripke discussed the future of the series, and we have since received numerous updates on what’s to come.

One of the officially confirmed projects at the recent San Diego Comic-Con is a prequel and spin-off series titled “Vought Rising,” which will explore the origins of the organization set in the 1950s. According to The Boys showrunner, this series might feature the first iteration of a notorious and controversial event from the main series.

Before we reveal the event in question, let’s quickly recap what we know about the new show. “Vought Rising” was announced at the 2024 San Diego Comic-Con, following the successful fourth season of “The Boys.” This is one of several projects currently in development, including the final season of “The Boys,” the second season of “Gen V,” and the spin-off “The Boys: Mexico,” which we’ve already discussed.

“Vought Rising” will be a prequel series exploring the origins of Vought International. Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash are confirmed to return as Soldier Boy and Stormfront, respectively. The showrunner for the series will be Paul Grellong, who revealed the following details about the show at the event:

“We are excited to bring you the next deranged series from the world of ‘The Boys.’ It’s a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought. We cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with this salacious, grisly saga drenched in blood and Compound V.” – Source: Variety

Knowing all this, we understand that the series will be set in the 1950s. Naturally, this has sparked fans’ curiosity, leading to questions about Herogasm. Yes, the (in)famous event from “The Boys” might be featured in “Vought Rising.” Why? “The Boys” depicted the 70th annual Herogasm event, implying that the first occurred in the 1950s. Additionally, we know Soldier Boy and Stormfront established this event, giving Kripke and his team the perfect reason to show us the inaugural Herogasm.

When asked about this possibility, Kripke responded: “I think we’d be crazy not to because Soldier Boy and Stormfront founded it, and they are the two leads of this new show.

So, the likelihood of seeing the first-ever Herogasm is very high. We’re both intrigued and slightly disgusted, as it’s sure to be a wild ride (pun intended).
