Lady Gaga Reportedly Stunned by Backlash to ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’

Joker: Folie à Deux was one of the most highly anticipated sequels in recent memory, generating excitement comparable to that of Deadpool and Wolverine.

However, many fans were initially disheartened to learn that the film would take the form of a musical drama, fearing it might undermine the captivating narrative established in the first film.

Unfortunately, those fears proved justified. The movie not only flopped at the box office but also garnered negative reviews from both critics and audiences, who felt it fell short in nearly every aspect.

While we’ve extensively covered the backlash surrounding the film, it appears that one person was particularly affected by its failure.

Reports suggest that Joaquin Phoenix referred to the film as bad and that Todd Phillips had a fallout with DC regarding the project.

However, Lady Gaga seems to be especially disheartened by the film’s poor reception, to the point where she is reportedly shocked by the unexpected turn of events!

This information comes from the British publication Daily Mail, which claims to have spoken with an anonymous individual close to Lady Gaga. According to this source, the singer and actress is genuinely taken aback by the film’s outcome and the overwhelmingly negative reception it has received.

Here’s the situation as described by the insider:

Gaga is surprised by the response to Joker 2 and is shocked that people don’t love it after the response it received from critics before it premiered. She put so much heart into the movie and has so much respect for the DC comics fan base.

Her team is quietly looking at other projects they can roll out as they want to move on this from as quickly as possible. She is disappointed that Joker is pretty much a bomb. She thought that this film could get her an Oscar nomination, especially since the first film was such a success and Joaquin won an Oscar.

She would now like to land a role in Quentin Tarantino’s next and final film. Nobody knows what that is going to be, but she wants to audition. She’s going to lobby hard to get a meeting with him once a script is presented, it is a bucket list moment for her to be involved.

While this should be taken with a grain of caution, given that Daily Mail is not the most reliable source, the report doesn’t seem plausible. It aligns with how one might expect her to react to the film’s disappointing reception. Although Gaga hasn’t made an official statement on the matter yet, we’ll be sure to report any comments she makes about the movie!
