‘Star Wars: The Skeleton Crew’ is set to release its first episode in just a few days. Created by Jon Watts and Christopher Ford- The story follows a group of kids, likely Force-sensitive, who embark on an adventure to find their way back home after getting lost following a mysterious discovery.
The story will feature a lot of similarities with children’s classics such as ‘The Goonies,’ but will be watchable for both children and adults, as there will be a similar element to the hit series ‘The Mandalorian,’ which also features an adult (Din Djarin) taking care of a baby (Grogu).
The show stars Jude Law, with Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Robert Timothy Smith, Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Kyriana Kratter, Tunde Adebimpe, Kerry Condon, and Jaleel White rounding out the cast.
The recent release of ‘The Acolyte’ really spoiled the fans, and now we are expecting plenty of mystery and perhaps some juice cameo sprinkled here and there as was the case with ‘Acolyte’s’ finale.
We even developed various theories regarding Jude Law’s character. He is certainly more than it meets the eye and the options while limited, are numerous. His character could be anything from Grey Jedi to Palpatine’s clone.
Jon Watts, the creator of the show however managed to set us straight, as the director revealed that ‘Skeleton Crew’ won’t be cameo galore.
Watts wants fans to know that ‘Skeleton Crew’ isn’t focused on shocking viewers with big surprises or tying heavily into other Star Wars stories.
WATTS: I don’t want people to think that there’s going to be some insane cameo in the middle of the show. Yeah, not to rule anything out, but Jude isn’t really Palpatine or anything like that.
While this does leave us disappointed, we’re happy that we will be able to enjoy the show without worrying that every single on-screen detail references Darth Nihilus.
But, the mystery of Law’s character still remains. Jude Law plays Jod Na Nawood, a mysterious character who might be a Jedi, a former pirate, a con artist, or all three. ‘Skeleton Crew’ has a family-friendly tone, unlike the darker ‘Andor,’ but the character still fits into the ‘Star Wars’ universe. Jod’s tricky, deceptive nature feels right at home in the galaxy’s shady, back-stabbing underworld.
FORD: Well, Jude’s character could totally be in Andor.

WATTS: We didn’t want this to feel like a kids’ show. It still has to be an adult world that they’re in.
