A Little History

Originating in the 30th Century, the Legion of Super-Heroes was created in 1958 by Otto Binder and Al Plastino. Initially, created as only a one-shot comic, the overwhelmingly positive response from its readers was enough to convince DC Comics to create a second issue. The team became so popular that they eventually received their own comic.

In the 30th Century, the galaxy is flooded with people, creatures, and beings who do not get along with one another. However, also in this future timeline, are still a number of beings who hold hope that one day the opposite will happen and the galaxy will live in peace. One of these people is billionaire R.J. Brande.

An attempted assassination of R.J. Brande happened in the vicinity of three unlikely teenagers. Using their collective powers, (telepathy, manipulation of magnetic fields, power over electricity) the three teenagers instinctually came together and foiled the attempt.

Barely believing that there were others like him who valued peace and harmony in the galaxy, Brande immediately convinced the teenagers to follow in the footsteps of the heroes of the 20th Century. He did so with the promise that he would finance and continue to finance their endeavors. The three accepted, created costumes and superhero names (Saturn Girl, Lightning Lad, and Cosmic Boy) and became what the world now knows as the Legion of Super-Heroes.

Since their inception, the Legion has had many members but each new member must uphold the constitution of peace and morality the team prides above all else.
